In 2020 we decided to leave the increasingly hectic south of Bali and decided to find ourselves a plantation up in the mountains of Bali. We looked at dozens of plots of land around Pupuan, mostly plantations and rice fields on the slope of Mount Batukaru. We eventually found our place in the small village of Sanda, and today can’t be more happy with our decision and choice of the place we now call Home!

At an altitude of around 700 meters above sea level we now enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of authentic Balinese rural countryside, its pleasant fresh and cool climate and the amazingly friendly people, living their peaceful agricultural lives as they’ve done for many generations.

It’s not easy here to find land you may be looking for. It’s often not easy to actually find out who owns what land… No proper real estate agents have developed their business in this area. There are a few local freelance “agents” trying to help land owners sell land, but they don’t have the means to reach potential buyers. We want to change this and help locals who want to sell or lease their land find potential buyers. We list carefully selected land for sale or lease, from land owners we personally know.

We are not real estate agents; we simply want to connect and introduce land owners with potential buyers and will facilitate viewing of the land and arrange an initial meeting with the land owner. We do not get involved in any negotiations, although we are happy to function as mediators, or help in case of language barriers. Once a deal is made we can introduce you to proper notaries that cover this area, or you can find one yourself.

The Area

Pupuan offers a spectacular scenery all around and is one of the most authentic Balinese rural areas, almost undisturbed by growing tourism. Most people are farmers, living from their plantations, rice fields and farms, on the slopes of Bali’s second tallest mountain, sacred Batukaru. At an average altitude of around 700 meters above sea level the air is fresh and cool. Nights can even get chilly and air-conditioning is not required.

A lot of land for sale in Pupuan does not have access to electricity from the PLN network. So you may wonder why to consider such land…?

“Going off-grid”, as they say… It simply means you may have to rely on solar energy. Is this something that worries you? It shouldn’t!
